The Bike Ride through the Golden Gate Bridge

Went for breakfast along Chinatown and found this wonderful place that served authentic Cantonese food. Ordered a bowl of Won Ton Noodles with Roasted Duck. Yummy!! Hadn't had hot soupy stuff for quite some time, and of course chilli. It was a great meal before the hard work that I'll be doing, the bike ride through the Golden Gate Bridge.

Decided on Blazing Saddles which has a package at US$41 where you get to ride the bike from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito and return via ferry from there and ride back to the shop. It was a tiring ride as the wind was blowing against me as I paddled forward. So much resistance. I CAN DO IT!!! By the time I got to the uphill portion of the ride, it's wiser to push the bike. No point tiring myself out. I've got another 2 more weeks to go you know. Finally, I got on the Golden Gate Bridge which by the way was brown. Nothing golden on it. Many people must have jumped off or at least attempted to jump off the bridge because there is an emergency phone dedicated to counsel those who are contemplating to end their life there.

The ride to Sausalito from the Golden Gate Bridge was much easier as it was downhill all the way. Sausalito is a very nice quite town by the sea, comparable to Apollo Bay in Victoria Australia. The houses were beautiful and the sea was calm. Did a little shopping in the area before running off to the ferry terminal so as not to miss the 3.20pm ferry back to the San Francisco Bay so that some shopping can be done along Union Square.

The shops along Union Square open till 8pm, so time is of the essence. Got Bernie her Coach bag and jeans. Not forgetting the kids, got them some really nice clothing. Hope they'll like them. I believe my taste can't be that bad!!!

Audrea and I wanted to have dinner at the same restaurant we went this morning but they were closed. Instead, we went to another Cantonese restaurant. The food was pretty good. We had Sze Chuan soup, oyster eggs and fried rice. The portion was huge and in the end we packed the remainder for tomorrow's breakfast.

This being the last day in San Francisco, I've not been to Lombard Street. After dinner, it was good to have that walk. Afterall, it's important to see the crookedest street in the world. It looked quite different at night. Another perspective.

By the time I got back to the hotel, t was already 10pm. I've got to do my laundry. I'm running out of clean clothes. I walked the streets with my soiled clothes and it began drizzling. Then a homeless dude approached me and begged for money. I told him, "Sorry man, not today." And he went on his way. Amazing. Finally I found laundromat that was still open, the staff told me he was closing the shop. The story of my life. After walking a couple of blocks without any success in finding any laundromat. It was time to give up. All wet and tired, I went straight to bed as it will be an early to Denver tomorrow. Mile high city here I come!
